Our Teachers

We strive to create a fun, informal classroom setting, and safe community that spurs musical engagement and supports each child's musical development.

Carolyn's former career as a preschool teacher stretched 20 years, 14 of those as a Music & Movement teacher. She developed her own program for each school she worked at, but fell in love with the Music Together® curriculum when she took the teacher training in July of 2014 in Beaverton, Oregon. Carolyn enjoys singing in her church's choir, and dabbles with song writing and guitar. She raised 2 daughters who are also musically active, and is delighted to pass down the gift of music to her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys regular walks with her dog, and traveling abroad, especially cruises! Though Carolyn is legally blind, that does not stop her from bringing the joy of music to many Vancouver families!

Christy lives and teaches in Vancouver, WA. She is a former preschool teacher who has chosen to focus on bringing music into the everyday lives of children and their families. She has worked in the early learning realm for 6 years professionally, but before that she directed several children's choirs, and was trained as a classical singer. She attended Pacific Lutheran University for Music Education and Belmont University for Vocal Performance though her degree was eventually Interior Design from IADT in Seattle. Designing and woodworking is still her creative outlet, and a useful hobby. Christy completed the Music Together teacher training July 2014 in Beaverton, Oregon and is very excited to be co-directing New Notes Music Together with her mother who has a legacy of fun and learning through music.
